Motivation
Applied statistics increasingly needs to reach audiences through interactive media rather than static reports alone. Statisticians and applied scientists benefit from software-engineering practices that support reusable code, working prototypes, shorter stakeholder feedback loops, and applications that can scale and perform reliably.
The project
At the Statistical Society of Canada’s 2022 Annual Meeting, Analythium’s team delivered a six-hour accreditation workshop titled “Delivering applied statistics from concept to production.”
The workshop covered shaping a question and dataset into a modeling workflow; building command-line interfaces and prototypes;deploying applications to cloud-hosted virtual machines; and improving performance by separating application logic from its presentation layer.
Our results
Participants received a practical path from exploratory analysis to reusable workflows, interactive prototypes, containerized deployment, and decoupled APIs. Participants were provided with access to the workshop slides and hands-on exercises for continued learning and reuse.
